If you read only one of my Volette travel articles, it should be this one. I wrote about my Carnival experience, how it’s like, and some tips in case you plan on visiting.
There are two parts to Carnival in Rio de Janeiro: the street block parties called blocos and the elaborate samba parade at the Sambodromo stadium. Both are required for the full Carnival experience…
I’ll admit that the Carnival marketing got me. I saw the pictures of half-naked women on floats and thought Carnival had to be just about sex. It’s more about…
I included a dozen photos in the article. Here’s a couple:

My previous Volette articles:

- The Middle Of The World (Quito, Ecuador)

- The Jewel Of The Pacific (Valparaiso, Chile)
- Patagonia (Argentina)
Good write up of the Carnival…. but when we going to get the unrated Rooshv version?

Really great post Roosh, as usual. One thing I kept thinking of the more I read that post - how on earth are you ever going to able to work a regular 9-5 job again?

You might want to add a correction to your article — the winner is Beija-Flor (which means hummingbird) not Baixa Flor (which doesn’t exist, as a word or a samba school). :)
I only got to see the parade in person once, on my last Carnaval in Rio, in 97. I had spent my whole life catching it from the TV, but it doesn’t compare to being there. My dad was invited for a friend’s “camarote” (box seats, with catered food and drinks), and we saw a good 5 hours of it from there — we where so close to the action! It was incredible seeing it in person — the pictures and the videos doesn’t do justice, I’m sure you can agree with that too.
When my uncle was younger he always participated in the parade (a costume costs more than a grand), and he would throw his costume out to the audience, having only his briefs left by the end of it.
Beach Bum’s last blog post: R.I.P. Dagny.
From the first line of the article, what, do tell, is a “Things To Do Before Your Die” list? Might want to proof read that shit next time.
Beach Bum, that’s interesting about Beija Flor meaning hummimgbird. And funny too because a himmingbird is Volette’s mascot on the logo.

Uhhhh… Hummingbird, not himmingbird. Typing on my crackberry again.

There are no americans in the first photo, or almost none because that bloco was way off the gringo path. Brazilians can look pretty white.
A really impressive scene — and completely different from that of Salvador… (which is much more… primal). Very Interesting
