I know the feeling. It's quite treacherous. I find that beating myself up verbally in my head, calling myself a lazy ass and a worthless piece of shit if I can't reach my final destination encourages me to keep running.

Good post; a nice deviation from the norm.

Since it's gotten warmer out, I've taken to walking to the shopping centers around my house instead of driving there. They're only like 1- 3 miles away. It's not that bad and I always feel nice after the walk.

I ran a three-mile race recently and, in the few days leading up to it, I was convinced I was going to die. But I didn't.

Depending on your body type and energy expenditure, if you kept running another 5 miles you might make it to the real wall where you deplete your body's glycogen stores.

As another runner in the bunch, I thought this was a great post... it translates from the short run to the marathon (mile 20 specifically...).. The mind is a powerful tool...

I was a long distance runner, this is a fantastic post, you got it perfect down to the last stomps at the end. I want to run again.

The power of the mind is amazing.
Great post. I'm inspired to go on a run now, unfortunately I'm part of 99% of the population.

The absolute best high is a runners high. When you feel like you can't go anymore, and you're totally used, you find that last reserve of energy, and that feeling is the best feeling. When you're lucky enough to channel it through in other aspects of life, it's a wow like feeling. Great post, running outdoors is a pleasure, and with people focussed on their treadmills and gyms, it's more open stretch for those of us who appreciate it.
