Beach Hair

I guess this is for the ladies (or the surfers). How do I get beach hair without going to the beach?

By beach hair I mean when your hair gets greasy and shiny with untameable thickness and stringyness. If I don’t wash my hair for a week outside the beach, it just gets greasy on the top and looks dirty instead of wild. If I don’t figure it out I’m considering bottling ocean water and taking it with me to the city to simulate beach conditions.

Ha it’s sad that I know this, but they actually sell products that claim to make your hair look “beachy.” Only in America, right? John Frida makes one that isn’t that expensive, and I think Frederic Fekkai makes one too but that will set you back quite a bit more money.

It’s true, there are special products in the hair care aisle, like the John Frieda one. Alternatively, you could probably just make your own with salt water (and maybe a few drops of sunscreen, for smell and thickness) in a spray bottle.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. I think it’s 15-20 a bottle.

ok, the reason i know this is because i lived at the shore for a couple years. no homo.

it’s the salt. actually you don’t even need to go in the water. spend all day in the ocean breeze with its heavy salt content and your hair with thicken up and get knotty and “sticky”. it is a ladykiller look.

Trying to go for that unwashed backpacker look?

Is there some contest out there to see who can become the biggest cliche or something?

1) wash your hair with salt water and stand in the wind for a while.

or

2) buy pomade and run it through your hair when wet, then use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment

you may also consider getting layers for your long hair, because the heaviness makes your hair heavy, making it flat and greasy-looking on top. layers give your hair a bouncy, weightless look

i’ll post photos of flickr of my hair in 3 ways so you can see the difference.

While you are at it, might as well bottle some of that sea water and sell it as a cologne or after-shave. Call it “Ocean”.

Haha, Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray is nice….
or if you’re trying to save money just buy a water bottle and mix sea water and conditioner.
