Speaking of pick up, I caught VK’s recent post describing his idea for a Plan B Commerical:

If I made this commercial I would have kept it real and to the typical situation Plan B is called for. The woman wakes up in the morning and her bra and panties are still spinning from the ceiling fan. Her hair looks like a birds nest, her eyes are blood shot red because she left in her contacts, and her make up is ruined. She’s clearly hung over as fuck. She’s slightly startled when she realizes she’s not alone. She looks over and THIS guy is in the bed with her…….

It was followed by a picture of me sleeping. A reference to Gizmo-like babies came shortly after.

…have you ever noticed that the fatter, uglier, older more frumpy a woman is the quicker she is to announce to the world that she’s in a relationship as soon as she’s in a relationship. 2. I’m going through Brazilian girl withdrawal. Here’s a comment from a guy who knows what’s going on.

I know it seems too good to be true, but it isn’t. The third day I was in Brazil, not in Rio, but an hour outside of Sao Paulo, me and my Brazilian friend were out and he goes, “Hey, my friend thinks you are cute, you should go for her.” I go, “Alright, for sure, I will.” I had literally just met the girl when he said this. So I started talking to her, thinking I would have to spit a little game. After 5 minutes, my friend goes, “Why haven’t you kissed her yet?” I go, “Man, I just met her 5 minutes ago.” My friend goes, “No, here in Brazil, if a girl likes you, you don’t have to sit there and work on it, just go for the kiss.” When I was in Rio, I was pretty drunk and definitely not on my A-game. This girl approached me, obviously attracted to me, and I started talking and talking, and she eventually got sick of me talking and went and hooked up with some other guy. I blew my chance because I was too slow. That was a bummer too because she would have been the cutest girl I banged in Brazil. Hooking up there is a lot faster because Brazilian men are very aggressive, so the girls are used to it. Plus, the Brazilian girls love gringos. The girls are easy, but still, they don’t come off as slutty. It’s really weird. Brazil is an amazing place for sure!

There is nothing I’ve yet to write that is not reason enough for you to step back from the computer and get laid right now. There is no missing piece of the puzzle I’m sitting on.

The Mylo is an “internet communication device,” which means it’s a tiny laptop. The prime feature is you can use it like a phone with Skype because it has built-in wireless internet (there is a microphone and ear speaker). Mostly you’ll be using it to surf the internet but add a Sony memory stick (no SD cards unfortunately) and you can use it to open files and listen to MP3′s.

I’m going to rate it on two dimensions: looks and personality.

It gets a 7 out of 10 on looks. It’s lightweight and pleasing on the eye and has neon-looking lights at the ends. You won’t be embarrassed with it in your hand. The screen is bright and clear and the keyword is easy to use. The stylus at the end of the wrist strap is discreet. But it’s not hot enough that you make someone else feel insecure about their electronic device. iPhone people will look at it and act all smug-like, going off about the superiority of their phone in a passive aggressive mumble.

The personality could use an upgrade. When it’s dark you can’t see the navigation buttons and sometimes the unit doesn’t designed. For example, the zoom button on the browser doesn’t always work and it gets schizophrenic with the wireless network. But when you’re connected you can run AIM, YM, and Google Talk in addition to Skype, and also subscribe to RSS feeds. It takes pictures with the 1.3 megapixel camera, you can install flash games, and for offline use there is a text editor to take notes.

Since the Mylo will not replace your phone, the best use I can think of it is for travel if you don’t own a laptop. Many hostels offer wireless internet now and you can log on to check your email and then make phone calls back home. But you’ll have to pay for this privilege: Amazon is selling a new Mylo for $285. It’s too expensive for a budget traveler.

I think it’s a nice gadget, but with a cell phone and laptop I haven’t found a regular use for it. I’m re-gifting it to my 12-year-old brother.

I’ll never know if I made the right choices since I can’t turn back time and try something else, but I have no regrets about the choices I’ve made (so far). It has been 14 months since I’ve had a job and I forgot what’s it’s like to sit in front of a computer reading blogs trying not to glance at the clock because I know not much time has passed since the last time I looked at it. I just didn’t fit with the corporate world and with my now useless degree the decision was easy to pursue a more mobile lifestyle of freelancing/writing/blogging. Sure it’s not for most people, but for me it is and I’m enjoying it even though I have to count every dollar I spend.

So tomorrow I will be 29. Last week I noticed some grey hairs in my beard.

3. I’m almost done with my next big project. I should be done with it in about two weeks.

By beach hair I mean when your hair gets greasy and shiny with untameable thickness and stringyness. If I don’t wash my hair for a week outside the beach, it just gets greasy on the top and looks dirty instead of wild. If I don’t figure it out I’m considering bottling ocean water and taking it with me to the city to simulate beach conditions.

I’ve been seeing you for two years now without complaint. I came to you after I ended my three year relationship with Anthony and his inconsistent ways. He was much cheaper but you know me—I need complete satisfaction. You were so green when I first started seeing you, with your wide availability and barely-visible corner space, but you kept introducing new techniques that made me feel good about coming back for more.

This past weekend I noticed you had three stations, an entire row. They are not going to give you all that space and not raise your price, so I mentally lubed up my ass for the pounding it was about to receive. Sure enough, the price came to $50. With $12 tip on top of that, you now cost the same amount as a weekend date that ends in sex. I went out that night and girls made fun of me, telling me their haircuts cost less than mine. It’s not your fault, but I’ve lost all my alpha male credibility. I felt so beta the next day that I bought a couple Armani Exchange shirts and some steroids from the internet. Therefore I don’t think I can see you again—professionally, anyway. You’ve always liked my hair long so I think I will try your advice and be a ponytail guy like Choco from Domino. Don’t worry, I’ll let a couple strands hang on my face like you said. I’ll stop by soon because you know I like checking out all your coworkers.

None of these movies are in English. Lately I’m finding that only foreign films are capable of telling me a story with characters I care about.
