portugese people/culture is so similar the world over.
even in their ex-colonies. for e.g. Goa . the asian man’s brazil !

i spent a shitloads of time learning italian only to realise just now that they speak italian only in italy and parts of swissland ! maybe its time to switch to spanish or portugese !

The most fun you can have is rarely planned. That’s why tours aren’t particularly fun.

Another fun thing to do: rent a motorbike and ride around Argentina, Chile, Brasil, and Bolivia. Stop where ever it looks interesting. It will be the cheapest trip you ever go on. You’ll walk away with ten times the amount of life experiences then most Americans will experience in their lives.

I dont like cashew juice either, but with lemons the taste changes completely! They could have gave u Umbu or Seriguela juice, those ones are sick! very acid, but sick! Valmont: Brazilians understand Spanish, but isn't the way around. many words we can compare, as french are more similar to you, as I heard, however our pronunciation and meanings may vary. actually it is a tri lingual country (french, spanish, portuguese) and it is very very tiny compared to angola or mozambique.

Damn, I can just a imagine all this. I’ve been in similar situations in Vegas. We would go 4 wheeling a lot. But at least I was in the states, but I was also in 115 degree weather. I like the cashew juice. I drank some earlier today. People always ask why I learn Portguese, like its a bad thing. haha. I always say because I’m in Brazil for 3 month, I have to learn. It makes my time more enjoyable. Plus, I don’t want to be just another stupid gringo.

my uncle traveled quite a bit in latin america, mostly in argentia and brazil but he said that brazil is by far the most fun country to go to as a bachelor in latin america.

question roosh, what are the main differences between brazilian portuguese and spanish ?

do you converse in spanish in brazil? I love the sound of brazilian portuguese, is it worth it to learn it instead of spanish ? I know that portuguese is spoken in africa unlike spanish that is mostly relegated to the americas.

That was a good travel story. Hopefully more to come. There’s nothing like connecting with the locals when you go to another country. Pushing yourself out of the comfort zone and having to survive on your own is a liberating thing and builds confidence, not to mention it gives you stories to tell down the line. Independent travel is where it’s at. How long did it take you to become so proficient in Portuguese? What books are you using?
