Free Wireless Internet In DC

Can anyone recommend a coffee shop in DC that has free internet? I found this list but there are no user reviews. Somewhere in the Dupont or Adams Morgan area would be nice.

I’ve been a regular of Busboys and Poets, whose yuppified hippie vibe I really enjoy, but their internet on the weekends is slower than dial-up. Plus they are expensive: a soy latte costs $5.25 if you include the $1 tip.

Love Cafe a few blocks away from Busboys (on the corner of 15th and U St) isn’t nearly as crowded, has wireless, and some decent treats from Cake Love across the street. There is also a coffee shop on the corner of 17th and Q St. Lastly, Tryst on 18th St in AM offers wireless access, but I believe they turn it off on the weekends to lure a different crowd.

Open City, on the corner of Connecticut and Calvert. Owned by the same people as Tryst and Diner. Not quite in Adams Morgan, but close enough, right?

Open City is a great place to hang out but its in my neighborhood and out of the half million times I’ve been, I don’t think I’ve once seen someone with a laptop.

Its a brunch/get together/yap it up with friends kind of place…not like Busboys…

A guy who is too cheap to spend money on himself is as much of a beta chump as a guy who spends too much money on women. They both come from a frame of scarcity.

An alpha won’t think twice about dropping cash on himself.

Anon – but spending money unnecessarily is weak. nothing wrong with being frugal, especially spending money for the internet. It’s the internet man. Not exactly something I (1) want to do a lot of, outside of work (2) wish to waste money on

I like Tryst a lot, even though there is no access on weekends. The food is decent and the coffee costs about what you would pay anywhere else. Parking can be a bitch though I’m sure.

Crumbs and Coffee on Columbia Rd. always has free wireless, but it’s a smaller place, so I’m not sure if you would be comfortable hanging out there for long periods of time (or looking at porn).

You could get a Verizon wireless card and just drop your home service. The service is great and you are no longer tethered to a coffee shop. In pleasant weather you can sit in parks, cafes, etc. or pretty much anywhere that you can receive a cell signal and surf at broadband speed.
