So should we then all completelty shut our mouths and only complain if our country becomes a total economic basket case and political wasteland? Just because there are, what could essentially be called prison states, such as North Korea, which are far worse then here does not mean that there isnt plenty to criticise within our own borders; or that it shouldnt be criticised.
And to all you morons that really think there are significant differences between the republicans and Dems; look at the fact that military spending has not actually gone backwards one bit in decades, it just grows at different speeds in a repub vs. a dem administration. Currently Obama is setting so many conditions on troop withdrawl in Iraqu that hardly any of them will be out in any time, and to offset that he’s certainly adding many more to Aphganistan. To follow up to Spike’s point, Asians (Japanese and others) living in the USA don’t commit many crimes either.

In fact, last year 50.4% of our murders were committed by a small (12% of our population) group of people. This group doesn’t exist at all in either Japan or the EU.

If you compare americans of european descent to europeans, or americans of asian descent to asias, our crime rates are not bad at all.

If you look towards the pre-WWII times when gun ownership was legal, it wasn’t like the gun violence rate was all that higher than it is now (well at least within Japan. God help you if you were in Nanjing).
