i was thinking about the fat american thing while watching the u.s. vs. mexico soccer match last night. every time they panned the crowd there’d be a bunch of fat white americans, and on the other side would be a bunch of fat tannish/brownish mexican-americans. go figure.

If you look at Mexico’s population on a whole, they really have not changed in the last 20 years.

Yes, there are plump Mexicans in Mexico, however their diet of fried foods and mucho caso has always resulted in this. Walk around any grocery store outside of a tourist trap. You will see some plump mexicans, but no morbidly obese Mexicans. Also notice that often the men are very skinny, from working in labour intensive jobs and it is the older women who are plump. All in all, no significant change in the last 20 years.

If you look at Americans, on the other hand, they have ballooned from 20 years ago. Walk around pretty much anywhere in the USA and you see multiple ENORMOUS people of all sexes.

It is an observation I have had, from 15+ trips to all places in Mexico. The Mexicans have maintained their plumpness, but really have not gotten any bigger, wheras Americans have gotten huge over the last 20 years.
