For the record, the Dark Knight was the second most disappointing movie ever made. (GI Joe Rise of Cobra was worse.)

The ending was such a cop out. it ruined the the entire movie.

If you ask me, Mystery Men, and ORgazmo were better movies than this POS.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie, though I felt that the Dark Knight was a travesty of wasted potential, with its paper thin, predictable plot that was marred by numerous holes. Action over substance, which is all too common these days. Yet people still eat it up in droves. Pathetic.

Also, Batman basically took a second seat to the Joker during the entire movie, and Batman's progression as a character was non existent, not to mention the fact that Bale's performance was almost laughable in some scenes, with his overly guttural voice, which, thankfully, wasn't used to such extreme's in the first movie.

I am glad to see someone agree that the dark knight is overrated. The only reason the movie was a success was because Ledger died. The portrayal of the joker was terrible. How did the Joker come to be, and why did he pick out batman. In the comics Joker character was much more poetic, if Batman was not around there would be no Joker. Which is what makes the Joker an amazing villian.

Finally, someone who has the guts to speak the truth about one of the lamest, most forgettable movies I've ever seen. Problems: I didn't care about any of the characters; Batman was dull; Ledger's Joker wasn't anything special (Jack was better) - he wasn't even menacing (when he entered a room, it was about as scary as watching a gerbil enter); it was too long and confusing and pointless; Gordon was miscast; etc. etc. etc. WOW, did I waste my money on that stinker! I nearly walked out of it about half way through. I did stay to the end, hoping that something would redeem the thing, but it only got dumber and unnecessarily longer. I was actually embarrassed to be seen leaving a mishmash, overhyped movie like that. All I could think about was how a silly movie suddenly becomes a great movie if a lead character happens to be dead. The only superhero movie I've seen that was worse was the Fantastic Four. Thanks, Roosh, for speaking the truth, even if it's unpopular to do so. It's over a year later, and it bothers me that I still want my money back.

It wasn't the worst way to waste money, but I agree with Roosh except when it comes to Maggie Gyllenhall. To the poster that said Gyllenhall is fugley... please... send me a first class ticket to your reality as soon as possible.

"The Dark Knight" is currently the third best movie of all time according to IMDB. And I agree.

Minor Problems

All of these minor problems are just you saying what is 'unlikely'. Cinema, and really just any story in general is about people doing amazing things. If you take away the the fantastic element then it gets boring. For example, everyone loved the Joker's ability to stab a pencil into a table and then through the eye socket of some street tough. It's never been done before, it seems ridiculous. That's why people loved it. The source material they were using, namely the comics, have the same things going on. The Joker's rabid aggression against Batman's martial arts..

5. It's Batman's rule. He doesn't kill people. He doesn't make judgments about who deserves to live and die, it's the difference between vigilante and serial killer. It's a continuous theme in most of the comics and the movie. If you want a hardcore murderous batman you should read Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns"

6. Would the movie have been better if the criminals wanted to kill the other boat? And the citizens had the higher moral standards? No, realism and predictability means bad movies alll the time.

Major Problems

1. Is Rachel the smart, educated attorney, who is able to show a degree of emotional maturity and still attract men a bad influence on young girls? Really? Should they have cast someone with nicer tits? Maybe an Ally McBeal type character. Even among fans of The Dark Knight, I'm pretty much alone in saying I liked Maggie Gyllenhal.

2. Two-Face was used to give the story an emotional arc. The Joker was meant to be a reoccurring character. There were so many lines that implied constant antagonism between Batman and Joker. Of course, Heath Ledger somehow managed to get out of his contract. Two-Face is not a super villain in the movie. He's not even really called "two-face" as a character name. He's just a symbol. It shows how Batman's pragmatism wins out against Dent's idealism. You can't be a perfect person in an imperfect world.

3. Changes in the Dark Knight
-Rachel dies
-Harvey Dent's fall from grace
-The bat signal is destroyed. Batman's hunted by the police now.
-Batman truly explores what it is to be a hero. He learns it's not about doing the right or honourable thing. It's about doing the best thing for everyone. The fist movie is about Bruce Wayne deciding to be Batman, the second movie is about him learning what that means. Just because you couldn't see a clear visual change of him dressing up like a bat, it doesn't mean the character didn't change.
Lots of good movies have no clear resolution. The best movies of all the time. Let me just check IMDB's list....
The Empire Strikes Back - Definetely no resolution by the end. So much is left hanging, because it's part of a larger story, like Batman. Yet it's often called the best of the series.
Citizen Kane - The ending is pretty open-ended. I still don't really know what happened.
Gone with the Wind - He just leaves her at the end. And then she vows to get him back. And that's it.

REASONS PEOPLE CAN'T HANDLE BATMAN AS AN AMAZING MOVIE
1. It's a superhero movie. For some reason the fact that these guys dress up in tights and give themselves ridiculous names destroys all their credibility. The truth is it's an amazing way to present archetypes, themes, and social commentary.
Watchmen is in TIME's 100 best novels of all time, and it's a superhero comic

2. Heath Ledger. Smart people are afraid to say Heath Ledger's joker was amazing, because it's been so blown up and publicized that it makes them seem like all the idiots who say it. But the truth is, though people exaggerate how great he was, they're actually bang on. He thought up that Joker, and he could have been so lame. When I heard they cast Heath Ledger I was so disappointed. But, this is a rare case where he actually deserves all the pity praise he's getting for having died.

3. It was entertaining. People seem to think that if the action's good, it was fun, and there are awesome explosions then it can't be a good movie. There have been great movies that were made for next to nothing. But nobody should hold the fact that The Dark Knight had a studio budget against it.

Roosh,

Clearly you have awesome points, but I really loved Heath Ledger's depiction. The most believable and gritty character in a long time, albeit some of his script was unbelievable.

Don't make fun of the dead, unless they were a 1. Kennedy, 2. Dictator, 3. Douchebag

The movie's really awesome. It appeals mostly to your emotions, not the logic. If you wanna watch a movie with absolutely realistic story & then sit around & search for plot-holes in it, then why go to a comic-based film? I wonder why didn't you mention that a Batman costume wouldn't actually work in real life... Oh, come on!

Okay now I have seen the movie and I have two issues with it. 1, I love Maggie G and can't see why they made her look so ugly. In this day and age there is no reason they could not have covered her puffy undereyes. 1a, giant fake tits do not belong on ballerinas. 2, Batman is so nice, he's so nice, he's such a nice guy....until he RIPS the head off the dog and throws another 3 to their deaths. Why is it so easy to kill the dogs and not any people, including the Joker who killed the woman he loves? What an asshole. 2a, that fake voice also makes him an asshole.

Other than that, it was entertaining. I like when Batman is dark and not a comedy.

It's based on a comic. Of course a lot of thing won't be real. If you had a problem with Two-face's face not becoming infected, then you should have a problem with a vigilante who dresses up as a bat, since that's not "real life" as well. Neither is Gotham City you know.

DF’s #8 comment is perfect. Debating the logic or reason of a story about a grown man who kicks people’s asses while wearing a bat costume is a pointless exercise in futility.

So is trying to make an ultraserious "realistic" character study of psychosis with that same character, yet fanboys rave about this movie for that reason.

T.'s last blog post: Fashion Hell.

Any chick who has consensual sex with a dude all the while knowing that said dude publishes blog posts about "Two-Face's forced transformation" deserves exactly what she gets.

I agree with Tersh. This movie wasn't bad at all, but I liked Jack Nicholson better as the Joker. As for the person who started this post, I'm sorry you didn't like the Dark Knight. It's not for everyone. But then, what is? If you preferred the version with Keaton/Nicholson, stick with that, then. Or whatever. But personally, if I don't care for a film, I don't go on message boards on the internet, and bash it to people who did like it. I simply just dismiss it, and move on, and never watch, or even think about it again.

This has been said before, but I’ll say it again– it’s a movie about a comic book, dude, it’s not Citizen Kane. :)

Someone needs to remind THE MAKERS OF THE FREAKING MOVIE that exact same thing. The makers and fans of this movie want to have their cake and eat it too. They keep claiming this movie is great because it's "realistic" and a cinematic mature tour de force on par with any dramatic nonsuperhero movie, but once someone accepts those claims and criticizes it by the standards of a realistic or tour de force movie, they turn around and complain that it's just a comic book movie and is not meant to be realistic.

Give me a break.

This has been said before, but I'll say it again-- it's a movie about a comic book, dude, it's not Citizen Kane. :)

It's well within your rights as an American to watch and like it or not watch it and not like it or any combination of both.

I say, if this movie helped one person forget about their crappy job or their crappy wife or the crappy economy for 2 hours, it was worth it.

This movie, for better or worse, will NOT be forgotten in six months, but that will be due to the untimely death of Heath Ledger. For comparison, I thought Nirvana was an average melodic pop-punk band at best, but Kurt's death has everyone thinking they were the second coming of the Beatles or something.

So, to sum up--not everyone likes everything, but it's okay.

Some posters are missing the point. The movie was entertaining, but nothing to cream in your pants about. Its the sheep mentality, "gotta see this cause everyone else did" thing. Then when you see it you really can't understand what the big deal is/was. Why was this movie so hyped? That's the question here. Why did it break record level box office sales (that's my understanding)? It was ok, but c'mon. Ledger's death probably had something to do with it.
