Well..if she's a regular blood donor she'll be clean for syphillis, HIV, and Hepatitis B/C...they test the blood and will ban you from donating if you're infected with anything

DR. K is right. Condoms when used PROPERLY only protect you 85% from HIV, that is a 15% chance you might get something that will KILL you. Definitely not worth it.

Even if a girl says she got tested, there are "window" periods where if she slept with someone else the test will show up negative. Oh yeah, during this "window" the chances of transmission are exponentially higher.

I don't mean to kill the party, but as cool as it is to bang out dumb sluts from Adams Morgan, getting the ninja (HIV) is not worth it. If you want to crush guts; take the girl to lunch, then the clinic, then a coffee shop. See her results, put her in a quarantine for 6 weeks, test her again, then bang her.

like HPV and crabs can be transmitted by areas of the body which are not covered, e.g. pubic hair.

Guess that's sort of irrelevant for most women today :(((

DrK--I agree with you...when I get tested, its for HEP as wel, its for EVERYTHING you can get tested for...including all blood work that is nonSTD related as well.

I don't know if the second part was related to me, but I used condoms with a monogamous partner for five YEARS.

I am definately pro-condom...and I threw in to get tested every 6 months because most people do it yearly and I know they are not going to go after every partner the way I did when I was single (I am more paranoid than most I think).

That being said...you are right. When I said get tested for everything...HEP is 100% on that list.

Chic...

I forgot to say that after punching myself in the stomach i'd most likely automatically dump any girl who gave me an std, esp. after saying how thoroughly she got tested

I have heard so many girls and guys tell me that they routinely get tested - it makes me sick about how nonchalantly people throw that phrase around. Having worked (unfortunately) in the Miami STD clinic, I have seen my share of warts, chancres, blisters, dripping Gonorrhea, Kaposi's Sarcoma (tumour associated with HIV/AIDS), you name it.

At an STD clinic, people are given the option to be tested for EVERY STD out there by physicians who are trained in taking samples which would yield accurate results. Unfortunately, at your local family practitioner or gynecologist, if the tests are even done correctly, they may not test for everything out there. It is the law that you have to sign a consent form to be tested for HIV. If your physician did not give you a long form to sign giving permission to test your blood for HIV, then you were NOT tested!
((This stupid law is especially problematic for people like myself. if I stick myself with a needle in the operating room, and the patient does not give me permission to test him/her for HIV, I will not know if I contracted anything.))

I was talking to a girl (whom I used to date) a few weeks ago, and the subject of testing came up. She, like many other people, assumes that by wearing using a condom, she eliminates her chances of contracting an STD. People mistakenly believe that the statistic "condoms decrease pregnancy rate by 98%" also applies to STDs. In fact, this statistic applies only to PERFECT condom use, and only for preventing pregnancy (the main reason being that condoms contain spermacide). The reality is that most people don't really spend the time to read the directions, and the true pregnancy rate is actually as high as 18%. That means there is a one in five chance that you will knock up a girl (chances of killing yourself by playing Russian Roulette: 1/6 - much better).

Now, since we are talking about STDs, condoms USED PROPERLY, reduce the transmission: of HIV/AIDS by 85% (still 15% chance you can get HIV), HPV (the virus which causes cervical cancer) by 70% (still 30% chance that you can get it). Things like HPV and crabs can be transmitted by areas of the body which are not covered, e.g. pubic hair. Thankfully some diseases like Syphilis, Gonorrhea, and Chlamydia area treatable with simple antibiotics if caught early. If you wait and ignore the symptoms, there are complications from sterility to heart problems and permanent paralysis.

[Nota Bene: every girl reading this should go out and get the GARDASIL vaccine. except of course the idiots in Texas and the rest of bible belt who think their teenage daughters are not having sex, and this vaccine will in fact promote promiscuity instead of preventing cervical cancer.]

Well, anyway, lets say you get tested and you were not lucky enough to have contracted Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, or any of the other wonderful treatable diseases. Instead you got perhaps HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, or Herpes. Well, now you are FUCKED! FUCKED, FUCKED, FUCKED!!! For one night (most likely for 7-10 minutes) with that 22 year old you got drunk at the club, you have just committed yourself to a lifetime of taking 5-10 pills a day to prevent these viruses from tearing your body apart. Instead, the drugs will give you diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, depression, insomnia, anorexia, fatigue, muscle pain, and a shit load of other problems. But no worries, because you have knocked 10-20 years off of your lifespan.

So what is the point of getting tested?? Are you going to stop whoring around if you find out you have HIV or Hep C!? I cannot offer a solution.
You could follow what i do: first a layer of saran wrap, then aluminum foil (not only a great barrier, but also increases cell phone reception), and seal it with duck tape. This helps with protection, as well as adding some bulk for those members of society less well-endowed than Roosh V.

I hope I've shed some light on the subject.

Namaste: " If you have ever received an unprotected blow job, then you have been orally exposed to HSV-I. And if you have ever had sex period (protected or not) you have been exposed to HPV simply from skin-to-skin contact. Everyone has it. That said, it is always wise to use a condom to minimize risk of exposure to these and all STDs, of course."

You are quite wrong. The CDC has a website with all the statistics and not everyone has HPV, HSV - 1 or HSV-2. You really should read up on the REAL statistics from the actual source that collects all the data. Cosmopolitan should not be your main source of info.

Yes, many people have been exposed to HPV. Most clear the infection in 2 years, a small number do not. But people can be reinfected with a new HPV virus.

There are about 40 DIFFERENT forms of the virus and being infected with one kind does not prevent you from being infected with a different kind later. Additionally, 1 specific form accounts for 50% of all cervical cancer cases.

Most people who have HPV never know it. But don't mistake that for meaning that most people in the world have HPV.

To assume an attitude of "Everyone has it" encourages a blase attitude towards protecting one's self and partners. I think you realized that yourself which is why you tossed in your last sentence as an after thought.

Anyone who thinks there's no point in protecting her self because she has probably already been exposed is naive.

Perhaps I'm reading you wrong and what you're trying to say is that one should assume that every sex partner one has carries every STD known to mankind and monkey and take precautions, but it didn't come off that way.

KassyK - Getting tested every 6 months is pointless if you are having multiple partners. You would need to be tested after EVERY new partner if you are trying protect the people who you are having sex with. Even at that, you will can false negatives.

Speaking of which, none of you seem to be concerned about Hepatitis C. You can carry that virus and not develop enough antibodies to show up positive on a titer screening until the disease goes active years down the road. Even once it's active it can take 3 months to develop a positive titer. Meanwhile, you've been infecting all your partners because you got tested every 6 months and it was "negative". Did you know that Hepatitis is the most common reason for liver transplants?

You don't want to use a condom? Fine. That's your lifestyle choice. But don't lie to yourself and say it's a decision based on sound reasoning and responsible actions. You are playing russian roulette with your life.

Personally, I just don't get that. Maybe because I battle a chronic incurable life threatening disease acquired genetically and if doctors discovered a cure that was as simple as giving up chocolate (ok, maybe that's not so simple) for the rest of my life, I would DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT.

Too bad some of you can't live a month in the shoes of someone with cancer or liver failure, then you might stop taking your good health for granted.

You are quite wrong. The CDC has a website with all the statistics and not everyone has HPV, HSV – 1 or HSV-2.

But don’t mistake that for meaning that most people in the world have HPV.

To assume an attitude of “Everyone has it” encourages a blase attitude towards protecting one’s self and partners. I think you realized that yourself which is why you tossed in your last sentence as an after thought.

Anyone who thinks there’s no point in protecting her self because she has probably already been exposed is naive.

Perhaps I’m reading you wrong and what you’re trying to say is that one should assume that every sex partner one has carries every STD known to mankind and monkey and take precautions, but it didn’t come off that way.

KassyK – Getting tested every 6 months is pointless if you are having multiple partners.

Even once it’s active it can take 3 months to develop a positive titer. Meanwhile, you’ve been infecting all your partners because you got tested every 6 months and it was “negative”. Did you know that Hepatitis is the most common reason for liver transplants?

You don’t want to use a condom? Fine. That’s your lifestyle choice. But don’t lie to yourself and say it’s a decision based on sound reasoning and responsible actions. You are playing russian roulette with your life.

Personally, I just don’t get that. Maybe because I battle a chronic incurable life threatening disease acquired genetically and if doctors discovered a cure that was as simple as giving up chocolate (ok, maybe that’s not so simple) for the rest of my life, I would DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT.

Too bad some of you can’t live a month in the shoes of someone with cancer or liver failure, then you might stop taking your good health for granted.

when you have a girl really open on you or believes it’s love or “the real thing”, they will push and pressure much harder than any guy to get you not to use a condom.

T is right. this is because deep down at the subconscious level women want to get pregnant by the men they have given their love to.

looking back, women i dated pushed for condomless sex almost as often as i did, just in a more passive roundabout way, as is the wont of their mercurial gender. plus, they can feel a difference too. a wrapped rod doesn't hit the walls and work the middle like a raw dog.

Girls are more likely to cave in under pressure as they want to please their man and don’t want to lose him.

We like using condoms - it makes cleaning up after so much easier and efficient than having it run down your leg!

Trust me, when you have a girl really open on you or believes it's love or "the real thing", they will push and pressure much harder than any guy to get you not to use a condom. They'll bring up love, emotion, whatever it takes. My friends and I have compared many a story about this. Like with sex in general, women may not push for no condoms as OFTEN as guys, but once they feel there's a real love connection and get emotionally invested, they're downwright monomaniacal about it.

I'm glad to see you stocked up on the EXTRA LARGE SIZE, Son. Every man should have a goal in life, and it gives you something to "shoot" for. LOL!!!!!

Trustex?..must be some hand made shit from a Chineese province...I can see it now some 60 year old Mandarin speaker sitting there and pulling latex out of some oven, only to hang it on some dirty laundry rope till it dries.

I like that its bootleg extra large size (aka, larger than an average Chineese 2 inch) Good look on a 100 pack though, saves a lot of money.

Notes from the female camp:
Most guys start out agreeing to use a condoms, but as time goes on they inevitably try to talk a girl out of using condoms “just to see what it feels like” for “just a few minutes, etc.”. Some women remain steadfast and firm on this issue, but a LOT of women also cave in. Does any of this sound familiar eh, guys? Honestly, you really don’t care and would do it all the time without one if you could get away with it, even for a short time…until the mysterious 18 year”Baby Virus” hits of course.

Honestly, I think women are just as guilty of this, especially when they get more and more feelings for the guy. No way is this primarily a guy thing.
